Embodied Entanglement
Thinking with my hands, & through body- these are my an integral part of my life's pursuits. In making this set of work, I wanted to know whether my mental state as I made my art could be transferred into the person viewing it on the other side, without my telling them so.
My work at this time explored how how to capture the ephemeral, and to embody permanent traces of a memory, while trying to find relationships new between concept and form that was beyond literal representation, but was still rooted in reality.
Each of those objects were made by placing my hands in certain emotionally charged poses and casting within the negative space. It is both an attempt at post symbolic communication, and an attempt to memorialize a moment of embodied cognition.
